The session will be moderated by Philip Pirecki, Americas Lead at Jersey Finance. It will bring together legal and industry experts, including Brian Wheeler, Partner at Foley & Lardner, and Paul Worsnop, Partner at Appleby, to explore how leading managers are adapting to a world where capital, investors and opportunities increasingly cross borders. Using real-world experiences and practical examples, they will examine how jurisdictional choice can support fundraising, investor access, operational efficiency and long-term growth.

Brian WheelerPartner, Foley & Lardner

Brian Wheeler is a seasoned strategic advisor with decades of experience providing legal and business guidance to clients across a wide variety of industries. Both Brian’s work in private practice and his in-house career have given him an extensive background in M&A - particularly cross-border M&A - transactions involving venture-backed companies in the technology and life sciences sectors, growth equity, private equity, and fund structuring. Brian’s legal acumen extends beyond private practice to his significant in-house tenure at companies on the cutting-edge of the technological revolution. The former general counsel and head of corporate development of Heni, an international technology and art services company, Brian spent five years at SoftBank Investment Advisers, where he was managing partner and general counsel. Prior to moving in-house, Brian was a partner at a global law firm in its Palo Alto office. He previously practiced in Tokyo and is proficient in Japanese.

Paul WorsnopPartner, Appleby

Paul Worsnop is a Partner at Appleby in Jersey, advising fund managers, family offices, founders and institutional investors on international fund structuring, fundraising, private wealth planning and private capital transactions. He regularly assists US managers seeking to access global pools of capital and structure investment platforms for institutional and private wealth investors across Europe, the Middle East and other international markets. Paul works across private equity, private credit, real estate and other alternative asset classes and is recognised by both IFLR and The Legal 500 as a Rising Star. He is a frequent speaker and writer on cross-border investment and private capital trends.
