Empowering your career journey with Karen Finlayson.

We’re delighted to welcome former PwC UK Risk Partner, Karen Finlayson, to Jersey in May 2025.

Karen’s career began at 16 when she left school unsure of her next steps. She started an apprenticeship in administrative finance, which laid the groundwork for a remarkable journey. After returning to education to study accountancy, Karen gained experience in banking, retail, manufacturing and the public sector. Her hard work led her to PwC, where she earned an ACCA Diploma in Accounting and Finance – proving wrong those who said she wouldn’t succeed in a major accountancy firm.

At this event, Karen will share how she overcame self-doubt and imposter syndrome, challenges often faced by young professionals and those from minority backgrounds. Her story highlights the importance of leadership, resilience and staying true to yourself when navigating tough environments.

This is more than a talk about achievements – it’s a chance to discuss empowerment, confidence, and breaking barriers in the finance industry. Join us to hear Karen’s story, gain practical advice, and find inspiration for your own career journey.
