Jersey Finance and Withersworldwide are pleased to jointly host an invitation-only networking event for Mumbai based family businesses, advisory community and other key intermediaries in the financial services ecosystem.

Led by Faizal Bhana, Jersey Finance’s Director for the Middle East, Africa and India, and Partners from Withersworldwide: Claire Harris and Jennifer Canavan, this exclusive event will highlight the growing ties between the finance, advisory and professional services sectors in the city of London, Jersey and Mumbai– with Jersey often recognised as a gateway to the UK, Europe and the Middle East for Indian family businesses and families.

Guests will hear a keynote address from Cyril Shroff, Managing Partner of Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas – India’s leading law firm. Also known as the ‘M&A King of India’, Cyril has more than 41 years of experience in a wide range of practices areas, including corporate and securities law, disputes, banking, bankruptcy and infrastructure.

We are delighted to also be joined by Ruby Dalal and Stephen Ross, Partners from Withersworldwide. Guests will have a unique opportunity to meet and exchange experiences with businesses and advisory firms with similar interests.

Profile

Faizal is a UK qualified lawyer and for many years has worked and advised, and is a trusted advisor to institutions, corporates and families across the Middle East, Africa and India. Faizal specialises in banking and finance and has advised corporates, family offices and families including on their international investment and holding structures.

Claire HarrisPartner, Withersworldwide

Claire is a partner in the private client and tax team in London and co-heads the Withers India group. Claire’s work covers all areas of estate and lifetime tax and wealth structuring. She assists in the creation and maintenance of trust and corporate structures in the context of succession and tax planning and advising the trustees of onshore and offshore trusts which hold wealth for both UK-based and international families. Claire advises on residence and domicile, preparing non-resident individuals for arrival in the UK and providing guidance on the remittance basis of taxation and managing non-UK clean capital. Claire’s client base includes many families resident or domiciled in India and she is experienced in advising on trust structuring, family governance and family office matters for Indian families, as well as structuring for funding investments and property purchases in the UK and considering the application of the UK/ India double tax treaties.

Her practice focuses on US estate planning, US taxation of foreign trusts with US beneficiaries, US citizenship and green card matters including renunciation and relinquishment, cross-border charitable giving, and US tax compliance including FATCA.
