Reputation as a Strategy

We are delighted to announce the return of our annual flagship private wealth conference, in London on 23 September 2025, a cornerstone of the London private wealth events calendar.

Following the success of last year’s event, this year’s conference, ‘Reputation as a Strategy’, will explore how forward-thinking jurisdictions like Jersey are evolving to meet new expectations – using reputation not just to respond, but to stand out in global wealth management.

The half-day conference will feature a line-up of distinguished speakers and industry leaders who will explore the evolving private client landscape.

Delegates can expect to gain strategic insights from thought leaders and engage with peers during our dedicated networking breaks. This event welcomes London-based lawyers, investment managers, accountants, bankers and trustees, as well as Jersey-based industry experts.

A note on scheduling

We’re aware that this year’s event falls during Rosh Hashanah (the Jewish New Year). Our event traditionally takes place on the same Tuesday each year and due to venue constraints, it was unfortunately not possible to change the date. We regret that this may prevent some people from attending.

We will however, be producing written summaries and materials covering the key discussions and presentations. If this affects you, please don’t hesitate to contact us and we’ll be happy to ensure you receive the follow-up content.

We appreciate your understanding and remain committed to making our events respectful and inclusive of our diverse professional community.

If you have any questions, please contact our events team.

Welcome from Joe Moynihan, Chief Executive Officer, Jersey Finance

In recent years, the concept of a polycrisis has significantly heightened the complexity of the international financial services world. It’s been a consistent thread throughout our conferences, with multiple concerns converging, from rapid technological advancements and the pressing need for sustainable solutions, to geopolitical upheaval and conflicts.

The clear headline is one of change – politically, economically and digitally – and how international financial centres (IFCs) respond to such change will ultimately define their future.

Balancing a stable, trusted platform with an innovative approach – one which embraces the opportunities presented by transformation but is able to be nimble in the face of change – will be paramount.

The first panel, ‘Reputation in Practice: Navigating the Private Wealth Landscape’, will analyse how quality IFCs can use value-driven strategies and long-term governance gold standards to elevate their reputation and position their offering purposefully. In an environment defined by heightened transparency and intense global scrutiny, the panel will also discuss the associated regulatory pressures and increased client expectations in meeting such challenges.

In the second panel, ‘Leading with Trust: Advancing Jersey’s Competitive Edge’ our specialists will look at how Jersey can harness trust to create a competitive advantage to support growth and resilience. In times of significant geopolitical shifts, investors naturally seek safe harbours and this session will examine the critical roles reputation and credibility play as markers of stability while also acting as guiding forces in shaping effective wealth management strategies.

Today’s conversations will ultimately centre around trust and reputation as core foundations for long-term success and how we, as IFCs and professionals, can demonstrate leadership to provide certainty and stability for clients and investors while also still seeking opportunity and responding dynamically in a mercurial environment.

It is a pleasure to welcome all our attendees and I hope our varied programme provides food for thought.

You can explore further details about the conference below, which provides more detail on the sessions, speakers and sponsors featured in at our conference.

Welcome from Steve Gully, President, Jersey Association of Trust Companies (JATCo)

This conference is set to consider the increasingly crucial role reputation is playing and how this underpins the attractiveness of a jurisdiction to families where their wealth is itself mobile and spans multiple locations. Reputation is not just as a reactive response to mitigate risk, but serves as a proactive and long-term strategy against a challenging backdrop.

In the UK and Europe, this narrative has been shaped by a cost-of-living crisis and persistent economic and political uncertainty, driven in part by growing societal polarisation and evolving tax debates.  Recent discussions have included debate around trade wars and the migration of wealthy individuals and families.

Unsurprisingly, in such an environment financial services clients and investors are prioritising stability and certainty more than ever, placing these qualities on equal footing with a jurisdiction’s cross-border capabilities and expertise.

Jersey has long benefited from an enviable reputation for stability – a core element of the Island’s appeal to international investors. Indeed, our Trusts Law, which is the blueprint for other centres globally, marked its 40th anniversary last year, reflecting the longevity of our platform.

However, in a volatile and rapidly evolving global landscape, it would be unwise to be complacent. Preserving and strengthening a reputation demands ongoing vigilance, strategic foresight and thoughtful action.

This is why discussions like today’s are so important. Embedding reputation at both a strategic and operational level is critical if, as wealth solutions providers, we are to meet the expectations of the next generation of clients.

It is also about remaining cognisant of the risks; how fragile reputations can be in a complex regulatory environment and the impact poor decision making and governance can have on client or structuring outcomes.

For its part, Jersey is fortunate to benefit from a collaborative approach between industry, government and regulator, with that joined-up thinking undoubtedly proving crucial to the high standards affirmed by the Island’s latest MONEYVAL assessment.

I truly look forward to hearing the thoughts of our distinguished speakers and expert panellists at this year’s conference, on the increasing relevance of reputational advantage and how we must all continue to adapt if we are to achieve our future reputational goals. Remaining current and being able to evolve is crucial to the continued success of Jersey as a leading IFC.  With our longevity and history we have a solid bedrock upon which we can continue to build out from for our future evolution and growth.
