Our Forward-Thinking Approach

Our forward-thinking approach means we’re always ready to provide meaningful support. Here’s why:

A clear and transparent regulatory regime
Better insurance

In 2006, Jersey became the first jurisdiction to incorporate cell companies together with enhanced versions of traditional protected cell companies. Jersey can also offer ‘pure’ captive insurance companies for more traditional self-insurance arrangements, to benefit larger entities.

Bespoke products and services

Jersey firms have world-class lawyers, accountants, bankers, and other professionals, who all work together to create focussed and tailored services. Thanks to this work, Jersey has been recognised as one of the most vital European centres for creating employee share plans.

Forward-thinking company law

New regulations in 2011 simplified the process of merging Jersey companies with overseas companies. Additionally, our listing on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in 2009, together with our partnership working with stakeholders in the City of London, make our Island appealing for corporate work. For example, these factors allow Jersey to be used as a renminbi centre for renminbi bonds issuance.

The International Stock Exchange (TISE)

The International Stock Exchange (TISE) is an innovative listing and trading facility for companies to raise capital from investors in financial markets around the world. It’s convenient and cost-effective, internationally recognised and facilitates capital flows globally.

TISE has more than 2,000 issuers from over 35 countries listing nearly 4,500 securities with a total market value exceeding £750 billion (as at April 2025)

Capital Markets Explained

Capital markets serve both individual client investors and corporate markets and can be described as a financial marketplace. A financial market is a market in which people trade financial securities, commodities, and other fungible items of value at prices that reflect supply and demand. Securities include stocks and bonds, and commodities include precious metals or agricultural products. It’s where investors buy and sell long-term investments to raise money. Capital financial markets bring together buyers and sellers to help firms grow.

If stock exchanges are where investors buy and sell; capital markets products are what investors buy and sell. Investors in the capital markets sector can be businesses or individuals. They can access capital markets using different types of products to invest in other businesses. Investment activity takes many forms – it can be selling shares in a firm, setting up structures to grow money or pooling money from different investors over a long period of time.
