This week, we sponsored the STEP South Africa Conference, which took place on Monday 17 and Tuesday 18 April at Sandton Convention Centre, Johannesburg. Represented by Dr Rufaro Nyakatawa – Business Development Consultant – Africa, the event focussed on providing advice in a world in disarray. The conference covered topical, in-depth content, including a detailed look at the tax consequences of a Basic Income Grant, the effect of Russian sanctions on the South African adviser and the obligations of a trustee in turbulent markets.
Following the conference, we hosted an exclusive networking event titled ‘Beyond the Sensationalism, Africa’s Value Defined’. Guests heard a welcome address from Dr Rufaro Nyakatawa and a thought-provoking keynote address from leading economist, Nema Ramkhelawan-Bhana, Co-Head of Institutional Sales at Rand Merchant Bank, which left guests thinking ‘despite its challenges, Africa is full of opportunities – Africa is open for business’.
