20 June 2025

At two Jersey Finance events this week, leading digital economy expert Professor Alan Brown shared powerful insights on the future of artificial intelligence in financial services – and what firms must do now to stay ahead.

Speaking at our exclusive Tech Connect roundtable for senior technology professionals, Professor Brown opened discussions with an overview of the key lessons in digital transformation. He then addressed the impact of AI on the financial services sector, inviting participants to consider their firms’ readiness for change and the challenges they face in balancing innovation with risk.

Real-world examples – from cost-saving automation tools to the use of large language models (LLMs) and use cases for pilot programmes in coding assistance, information retrieval – helped bring his insights to life.

Also today at an exclusive lunch-time session, Professor Brown addressed our CEO Connect group, unpacking what makes the current AI revolution different from past tech waves, how to approach it with clarity and control and how to turn disruption into opportunity.

Currently a Professor of Digital Economy at the University of Exeter, he has more than 30 years of international experience at the intersection of business innovation, emerging technologies and large-scale transformation.

During his visit to Jersey, Professor Brown also spoke to ITV Channel TV about the rapid evolution of AI and its implications for financial centres like Jersey.
