Rossborough: Spring Volunteering at Cotil de Vibert

|22 April 2025

Earlier this month, a team from Rossborough, part of the Gallagher, was delighted to return to the site at Cotil de Vibert for a Spring volunteering day as part of our continued support for Jersey Trees for Life and the Mont Vibert Wilding Project.

The group of seven volunteers, had their work cut out for them as they helped to undertake essential path maintenance, including levelling the camber and building new steps. The team also removed numerous sycamore saplings (suckers). And now, where there was once bare soil, is now a mass of wild flowers and grasses – the area is transformed.

Richard Clarke, who formed part of the volunteer group, said, “It was such a rewarding experience to be back at Cotil de Vibert – the difference from when we first started to now is incredible. Working alongside the team, building steps and clearing the saplings, you could really see the impact we were making. Seeing wildflowers and grasses growing where there used to be just bare ground made all the hard work feel completely worth it.”

Jersey Trees for Life is a charity committed to planting, conserving, and protecting trees in Jersey whilst raising awareness of their ecological and social importance. We are proud to have supported its Mont Vibert Wilding Project at Cotil de Vibert since 2022, focusing on re-wilding and preserving indigenous tree species, creating a biodiverse woodland and also attracting bees and other local wildlife.
