We work with key stakeholders such as finance industry professionals to provide tools and resources that create opportunities for the successful promotion of their individual organisations, products and services.
We also work closely with the Government of Jersey, the regulator, the Jersey Financial Services Commission and trade bodies to ensure that the best interests of the finance industry are effectively represented, in terms of legislation, regulation and other key areas of innovation that can enhance our jurisdictional product and services offering.
We are a central point of contact for journalists, and anyone connected with the finance industry, both locally and internationally, providing positive and transparent news, views and insights on Jersey Finance’s role and the added value that Jersey as an international finance centre can bring to economies around the world.
The principal objectives of this role are to:
You will be based in Dubai with a focus on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, with also responsibility for Bahrain. You may have responsibilities for other markets depending on experience. You will be expected to travel to Saudi on a monthly basis for most of the year. Your target areas will be subject to periodic review. Annual visits to Jersey are also required.
You will work collaboratively with colleagues across Market Development, Marketing, Legal & Technical and Executive functions to deliver the full breadth of proposition.
You will encourage and participate actively in further development of capability to meet regional market needs.
Where appropriate, you will liaise with external stakeholders such as States of Jersey, Jersey Financial Services Commission and Locate Jersey to understand and effectively represent the finance industry proposition in your regional market.
You must be able to articulate effectively the technical merits of Jersey’s finance sector offerings to your regional audience.
You will proactively develop a solid business network of relevant contacts in the sector and maintain frequent communication with them. You will work with colleagues across Jersey Finance to deliver these communications in a structured manner consistent with our brand identity.
You are expected to provide timely and structured feedback to the JFL team, principally through line manager, on relevant market intelligence that presents opportunity or threat to Jersey’s standing in the region.
With responsibility for a delegated sector budget, you will plan appropriate spend to deliver sector objectives and evaluate activity through ‘return on investment’ reports.
Your performance in the role will be assessed against a range of qualitative and quantitative key performance indicators.
You will take responsibility for your personal and technical skills development and work effectively with your line manager to achieve your learning objectives.
Relevant professional qualifications with experience in the finance industry (not necessarily in Jersey), preferably in the legal, funds or private client wealth management sector.
Knowledge of and experience in Islamic Finance.
An existing network of relevant contacts in the region in the legal, fund management, private wealth space
Experience of working in international markets including at least one mainstream financial centre.
A successful track record with relevant experience in a financial service and /or the legal profession with demonstrable commercial acumen.
Sound knowledge of Jersey’s finance industry, its products and services and the regulatory environment.
An understanding of the structures involved for offshore investments.
Marketing and public relations skills that will probably have been developed from a financial services knowledge base rather than from a marketing environment.
Excellent networking and interpersonal skills with an ability to relate to and articulate to a varying professional audience.
A presence of stature that will enable Jersey to be represented in a suitably ambassadorial manner that commands respect and develops relationships.
Ability to work alone and / or in conjunction with senior representatives of JFL/Jersey Government and Regulatory officials.
Excellent written/verbal communications and presentation skills.
