Funds Focus on South Africa Reception

Based in Johannesburg, Dr Rufaro Nyakatawa’s primary focus is developing the strategy for Jersey Finance’s engagement in the South African market. She also plays a vital role in supporting the organisation’s wider activity across the continent.

Elliot re-joined Jersey Finance in November 2018 from Crestbridge where he managed their Management Company Services Group.

Elliot’s role is to help define Jersey’s product offering for funds as well as to oversee the strategy and execution of marketing Jersey as both a domicile and destination for Alternative Investment Managers and their funds.

Thiru is a Principal at the SA SME Fund, a fund set up with the broad objective of creating and growing black entrepreneurs. She is a Chartered Accountant by profession and has over 18 years of Venture Capital, Private Equity and Corporate Finance experience.
Prior to joining the SA SME Fund, Thiru was a Fund Principal at the Public Investment Corporation (PIC) where she was Head of the Fund of Funds division.
In addition to her executive role at the SA SME Fund, Thiru is the Chairperson of the SAVCA VC Sub-Committee and is an independent IC member of the 27four Black Business Growth Fund II and the 27four Nebula Fund.

Trishanta Dheepnarayan is a Director and Principal at Metier and has over 15 years of experience in private equity. She began her career at Absa Capital Private Equity and joined Metier at the end of 2009, where she is currently a Principal in Metier’s capital growth practice. As part of her responsibilities, Trishanta covers investment opportunities across Sub-Saharan Africa and is a director on the boards of portfolio companies. She is a Chartered Financial Analyst® charterholder and holds a Bachelor of Business Science degree.
Metier is an independently owned and managed private equity fund manager with a track record spanning four decades and returns of more than 35% in ZAR over 100 transactions.

Mauna Mahlare, CA (SA), is Head: Multi-Management: Private Markets at Public Investment Corporation (“PIC”). Mauna joined the PIC in 2014 as an Associate Principal. Since joining the PIC, Mauna led several direct and indirect transactions in South Africa, and the rest of Africa. Mauna represents the PIC on several advisory boards of funds.
Prior to joining the PIC, Mauna worked at Ethos Private Equity and Standard Bank.
