Dr Rufaro Nyakatawa is the Director – Africa at Jersey Finance, where she leads the organisation’s Africa strategy, connecting African capital to global markets and global capital to African opportunities. Based in South Africa, she works closely with financial institutions, private wealth advisors, fund managers, family businesses, intermediaries and investors to strengthen the connection between African capital and global markets, while positioning Jersey as a trusted international finance centre and structuring partner.

Colin was appointed Consul General in November 2022. Prior to that he was First Secretary, Trade Policy, at the British High Commission, Wellington (2017-2022). Colin has also previously been posted to Iraq, Ethiopia, Somalia, Afghanistan and the UAE. Colin was awarded an MBE by Her Late Majesty The Queen for Services to Foreign Policy in the 2021 New Year Honours. British Consul General in Cape Town The Consul General is the senior UK official in a Consulate General, which is a subordinate office to the Embassy or High Commission, usually located in another major city. The Consul General represents the UK government and is typically responsible for consular and trade activities in their city or region as well as promoting the bilateral political relationship.

Shamil Ismail is an investment analyst, and qualified as a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Financial Analyst. Over the past thirty years he has been involved in various aspects of consumer markets, first working at retailers and later as an analyst researching the markets. He founded Primaresearch in South Africa in 2015, a specialist research firm focusing on consumer companies. The global trends in demographics and how this will impact consumer markets are of particular interest to him, culminating in his book “The Age of Decay - How Aging and Shrinking Populations could Usher in the Decline of Civilization.
