What is Greening Jersey?

Greening Jersey has been established to support environmental recovery and, chiefly, the rewilding of Jersey, through partnership with local charities including the National Trust Jersey and Jersey Trees for Life.

The aim of the initiative is for our financial services industry to collaborate and to pool together resources to help transform and rewild sites across our Island, where the benefits will be seen for years to come. This is not just about planting trees; it is about restoring nature across a range of habitats from woodlands to wildflower meadows and wetlands.

“I recently took part in a very enjoyable volunteering morning with Greening Jersey in December. Alongside a number of other volunteers, I helped clear some overgrown areas, build a new hedge, and plant more trees – all for the benefit of the local Jersey environment. It was a really positive experience and I also learnt a great deal more about trees and their importance for biodiversity and the island. I’m very grateful to Greening Jersey for the opportunity and would be delighted to support them again in the future.” Olly Spry, Wealth Manager, LGT Wealth Management Jersey

How to Join

Registration is now open for 2026.

The new contribution agreement has been finalised. By registering now, your firm ensures it is part of the next chapter in this vital initiative.

The £1,000 minimum contribution remains unchanged for 2026. However, firms are strongly encouraged to consider the following suggested scale based on their Jersey-based  staff headcount:

Headcount Suggested Contribution
1 – 10 £1,000 (minimum)
11 – 50 £1,500
51 – 100 £2,000
101 – 250 £3,000
251+ £5,000+

There will be an expectation that Members who commit to the initiative will do so for the medium term (minimum of five years is expected).

In time, there will also be opportunities for participating firms to put forward individuals to join the committee members and for corporate service providers to provide the service of trustee to the Trust (open for rotation every two to three years).

Some participating firms are also corporate members of The National Trust Jersey, Jersey Trees for Life and Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust (the Charities). Greening Jersey was designed to provide different and complimentary benefits to these corporate memberships and it is strongly recommended that firms continue their corporate memberships alongside Greening Jersey.

If a firm is a corporate member of the Charities, a reduction to the suggested contribution amount is available. 10% (if a corporate member of one of the Charities), 15% (if a corporate member of two of the Charities) and 20% (if a corporate member of all three Charities), subject always to the contribution being no less than the minimum.

What are the benefits of participating in Greening Jersey?

Greening Jersey is an excellent example of how our industry can collaborate to accelerate progress with on-Island sustainable development goals.

  • Industry Collaboration: Greening Jersey promotes industry-wide collaboration to enhance on-Island sustainable development goals.
  • Complementing Efforts: It aims to complement the existing charitable contributions of Jersey Finance Members by enabling access to larger and longer-term projects.
  • Volunteering Opportunities: Participants can engage in various volunteering activities, integrating these into their CSR programs and involving employees.
  • Recognition: Participants receive an official logo and certificate to showcase their sustainability efforts and commitment to environmental impact.

Many Jersey Finance Members already make a meaningful difference by supporting local charities in their own right, and we strongly encourage them to continue these valuable contributions. The ambition of Greening Jersey is to complement these efforts through industry-wide collaboration, enabling us to achieve a greater environmental impact together than any single organisation could do alone. For example, the initiative will provide access to larger and longer-term projects that smaller groups might not otherwise be able to support. It will also provide regular opportunities for participating firms to volunteer and attend events over the coming years and to support the charities longer-term commitments.

All participants will be invited to take part in a number of volunteering opportunities with the charities, making it easy to incorporate these activities into their CSR programmes and engage their employees in meaningful ways. Participants will also be provided with an official Greening Jersey logo and certificate, which can be used showcase their sustainability credentials and commitment to environmental impact.

Given the popularity of the Greening Jersey volunteering events and depending on the location, there is sometimes an initial limit volunteers per firm, but this may increase depending on take-up and participants will be contacted directly should extra places become available.
