Earlier this year, we worked with Sweet Chariot to set up a Business Studies and Economics tour visit to Jersey for UK students to learn more about our thriving financial services industry.
After being put in touch with Sweet Chariot via Visit Jersey, we suggested an introduction to Jersey as an international finance centre.
We welcomed 30 students from the Cranbrook School, a boarding school in Kent. Working together with one of our Member firms, Aztec, who kindly agreed to host the students in their new offices we delivered a presentation about Jersey as an international finance centre with Aztec presenting an introduction to fund administration and the various routes to the industry.
As well as introducing the students to the finance sector, we also gave them an insight into the culture and history of the island.
50 people visited Jersey as part of the trips, and stayed in local hotels, dined in local restaurants, used local transport, visited Jersey attractions, including Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust and Jersey War Tunnels.
We spoke to Kate Jory, Product Development Manager at Sweet Chariot, to discuss more about the most recent tour group and their visit to Jersey.
Sweet Chariot has been delivering educational and sport tours to schools for over 25 years. We offer unique experiences within the UK, Europe and Worldwide to give students the opportunity to take their learnings and see how that looks in the real world.
We strongly believe in the ability for tours to support the growth and development of students through new experiences, challenges, and the opportunities that our tours provide.
Jersey offers unique experiences across a wide variety of subjects and sports. Through our strong relationship with Visit Jersey and Jersey Finance, we are able to develop itineraries with genuinely unique inclusions.
The schools that visit Jersey regularly come back year after year. The island is a fantastic destination because it offers great value for money and the feeling of going abroad, whilst being easily and quickly accessible. It has stunning beaches and more sunshine hours than the rest of the British Isles.
With no language barriers, the students love the independence our trips give them, and they love the beaches and wonderful excursions on offer.
Cranbrook visited Jersey in February on a Business and Economic trip. They had presentations by Jersey Finance and Aztec, enjoyed time at SCOOP looking at sustainable business models and had a wonderful day at Master Farms discussing the business and economic challenges of running a farm on the island.
They also enjoyed an amazing lunch on the farm. They took time to take in some of Jersey’s history with a visit to the Jersey War Tunnels. The school gave the trip brilliant feedback. They found the talk at Jersey Finance “informative” and felt “the talk was of a very high quality, as were the resources provided to the kids”. Equally, their visit to Aztec was “amazing”. Overall, they said the tour was “great” and are already planning a return to Jersey in 2025.
