Bulls, Bears and Bagels – Events for the US Investment Industry

6 Feb 2026

January brought plenty of opportunities to share industry insights, build connections and highlight Jersey’s credentials to the US investment industry. What was on the events agenda for our Americas Lead, Philip Pirecki, and Head of Funds, Elliot Refson, to start the year? Read on to learn about their time in Miami and New York, and browse some photos below.

Magnetic Miami

Miami is a focal point for the US investment industry at the start of each year. 2026 has been no exception. Fund and investment professionals flocked to the city for some key conferences and surrounding industry events. Philip and Elliot’s first engagement was to host an informal breakfast event – titled ‘Bulls, Bears and Bagels’ – for private fund managers in and around the Coconut Grove area. It proved to be a fantastic networking opportunity and set the tone for the days ahead.

Next on the agenda was our sponsorship of Miami Finance Forum’s (MFF) January networking event, connecting Philip and Elliot with professionals and executives from across South Florida. The MFF is one of the most active finance communities in the US, bringing together people across banking, venture capital, private equity, wealth, capital markets, and adjacent sectors. The meeting was another successful joint venture with the Forum, allowing us to continue the Jersey dialogue and to put our jurisdiction’s credentials front of mind.

Our last key event in The Sunshine State was Uncorrelated Miami. Philip was a panellist on a session titled ‘From Zero to Scalable – Emerging Manager Readiness’, which was moderated by Christian Katzman of Northwestern Mutual. It gave us a perfect platform to reach fund managers, as well as allocators/LPs, across alternative investments including private equity, hedge funds, crypto, venture capital, real estate and private credit.

New York

At the end of January, the focus switched to New York for the first of our Private Wealth Network events of the year. These engagements bring together trust and estate practitioners, tax and legal advisers, private bankers, investment managers and family office representatives. They’re becoming regular and well-regarded fixtures for New York’s advisory community. Our next Private Wealth Network event is scheduled for 26 February. Before that, we’re hosting a private dinner in the city for a smaller cohort of select guests, which will include a good mix of investment managers, lawyers and service providers.
