Last week, in partnership with Themis, a financial crime specialist, we hosted a CPD-accredited event on digital and crypto-related financial crime risk assessment.
Held at the Royal Yacht Hotel, the event brought together local and international experts to examine the evolving risks linked to digital assets and virtual asset service providers (VASPs).
The session opened with a Jersey-specific overview from Chris Griffin (Carey Olsen) of the digital assets landscape. The wide-ranging panel discussion then moved on to cover global regulatory approaches, FATF expectations, tokenisation and the operational and governance challenges faced by firms adopting digital asset technologies. Speakers also explored emerging money-laundering typologies, blockchain investigations and lessons learned from recent enforcement actions in the crypto sector.
The session concluded with an interactive audience Q&A held under the Chatham House Rule, allowing participants to share experiences and practical challenges. The event provided valuable insight for compliance, risk, legal and regulatory professionals as they continue to adapt their frameworks to address the fast-moving digital asset risk environment.
