EY Announces Latest Promotions Across the Channel Islands

EY is delighted to announce its latest promotions and progressions in the Channel Islands across multiple service lines.

In the Assurance team, Tom Harris has been promoted to Director, while Dania Azraq, Devin Werner and Shahul Hameed have all been promoted to Senior Manager. Chris Manley has also been promoted to Senior Manager in the Tax team.

Further promotions have seen Gunashekaran Kumaravel, Irene Obeng-Agyemang, Kaleem Kabir and Roland Agyei step into the Assurance Manager role, while Crystle Obeng has been promoted to Tax Manager, and Gerald Oscillada has been promoted to Manager in the Technology Risk team.

Tom focuses on providing assurance services to listed and unlisted fund clients, as well as private banks, wealth managers and captive insurers, drawing on his extensive experience in these sectors. He is well-versed with local financial services industry regulations. Tom is passionate about coaching and mentoring junior team members with their learning and development and frequently leads internal training sessions on the latest standards and local regulations.

Tom has also been instrumental in EY’s business development initiatives, serving as the lead senior manager on several high-profile wins for the firm. His strategic approach and deep understanding of client needs have been instrumental in securing these new clients and ensuring their successful transition to EY’s services.

Dania joined EY’s Guernsey office in 2023, having previously worked for EY in Malaysia and Syria. She has a wealth of experience in private equity and wealth and asset management and has worked on multi-jurisdictional clients. She is passionate about maintaining and strengthening client relationships and ensuring EY’s clients receive the highest quality service.

Devin is a Chartered Accountant with the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA). Devin brings extensive expertise in cross-jurisdictional audits, leading assurance engagements for regulated entities in the Channel Islands and overseeing listed audits on international exchanges. His experience navigating complex regulatory environments enables him to deliver high-quality, tailored assurance services to financial institutions operating in and around the Channel Islands.

Shahul has over a decade of experience providing support to clients within the banking, financial services and real estate sectors across multiple jurisdictions, including Asia and the Middle East. He is well-versed in accounting standards, including IFRS and UK GAAP, and is passionate about coaching and mentoring junior team members. Shahul is passionate about supporting charitable programmes, one of which was the World Bank Group analyst programme, where he was shortlisted and invited to the World Bank Group in Washington DC to present his research on allocating resources to alleviate poverty.

Since joining EY, Chris has spearheaded EY’s CI Private Client and Trust service offering across the Channel Islands. He has more than 15 years of tax experience, particularly with inheritance tax planning and ensuring compliance for both individuals and trusts, which has been invaluable to his Channel Islands clients. Chris advises individuals and trustees on both Jersey and UK taxes, possessing extensive knowledge of the tax implications of distributions from offshore trusts. He also supports clients with planning the remittance of income and stockpiled gains for UK resident beneficiaries and settlors. Chris is a Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA), fellow of the Association of Taxation Technicians (ATT) and a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (TEP).
