On Thursday 19 June, volunteers gathered at La Vallette on what turned out to be a sweltering summer afternoon. The team cared for the 160 trees we’d planted earlier this year, working hard to cut back the bracken and ensure the young saplings have space and light to thrive.

Encouragingly, the vast majority of trees have survived their crucial first few months at the site.

The afternoon was rounded off with well-earned refreshments, providing an opportunity for participating firms and supporters to reflect on the progress made so far and share their aspirations for the Greening Jersey initiative.

The following morning, on Friday 20 June, attention turned to La Moye – the very first Greening Jersey site. Volunteers were back among the 656 trees planted earlier in the year, carrying out vital maintenance work to support their continued growth. Despite the summer heat, 25 volunteers turned out to help, and the site is already showing signs of flourishing, full of life and colour.

A huge thank you goes to National Trust Jersey, Jersey Trees for Life, and all of the participating firms who contributed to these events. Their support and commitment are helping to create greener, healthier spaces for everyone in Jersey.

Participating firms at La Vallette included: Fairway Group, True Limited, Rathbones Investment Management International, KPMG in the Crown Dependencies, EY, Cazenove Capital, and VG.
The volunteers at La Moye represented: Apex Group, Mourant, Canaccord Genuity Wealth (International) Limited, Stonehage Fleming Group, Alter Domus, Walkers, VG, and Alex Picot Trust.
