Inaugural Cape Town Event Marks International Women’s Day

16 Mar 2026

To mark International Women’s Day, Jersey Finance hosted the first Perspectives: Women in Leadership event in Cape Town on Friday 6 March, bringing together women from across the region’s financial services community.

Led by Market Development Consultant – Africa, Dr Rufaro Nyakatawa, the event provided a forum for women to reflect on their shared experiences, recognise the ongoing contribution of women in leadership and professional roles and build stronger connections across the industry.

The session featured insights from guest speakers Phia van der Spuy, Co-Founder of Trusteeze®, and Dr Pumela Salela, Founder and CEO of Invest Global, who shared personal reflections on their leadership journeys. Through candid discussion, they explored themes including entrepreneurship, navigating non-linear career paths and the importance of authenticity and resilience in leadership.

The event welcomed a full room of attendees, including both established professionals and those at earlier stages of their careers. Discussions highlighted the value of mentorship, representation and creating spaces where women can connect, share experiences and inspire the next generation of leaders.

The Cape Town event forms part of Jersey Finance’s wider Perspectives series, which aims to encourage meaningful dialogue and collaboration within the global financial services community.
