The half-day event, entitled ‘Trusted Shores’, will this year explore why trust, substance and resilience matter more than ever against a backdrop of geopolitical uncertainty, and how jurisdictions like Jersey are helping private wealth professionals navigate an increasingly complex global environment.
Providing the keynote this year will be The Rt Hon Lord Robertson of Port Ellen, who served as Secretary General of NATO – one of only three Britons to ever hold the post and the most recent. Prior to leading the organisation, he was Secretary of State for Defence. In both roles he oversaw dramatic changes in defence, security and international relations. After leaving public office he served in a range of business, political and advisory roles.
In addition, further details have been confirmed for two panel sessions at the event. The first panel, Mind the Gap? Do the NextGen Trust the Current Generation… and Vice Versa?, will be moderated by Clare Flanagan, Partner at Capital Generation Partners and will explore the persistent challenges families encounter in terms of intergenerational engagement and whether trust between generations is becoming harder to build.
Meanwhile, a second panel session entitled ‘Advising in an Age of Uncertainty’, will take the format of a live recorded podcast. Moderated by Jersey Finance’s Director – UK, Robert Moore, the session will look more closely at how uncertainty has morphed from a predominantly market factor to a far more nuanced force driven by broader issues such as geopolitics, regulation and family dynamics, how that informs trust in family relationships and whether that is shifting the nature of private client advisory.
Earlier in the summer, it was announced that acclaimed documentary-maker, writer, producer and podcast host Louis Theroux would be the endnote speaker at the event, taking part in a fireside chat where he will offer a unique perspective on connection, credibility and building trust in an increasingly divided world.
