Oak sponsors Junior Golf Inter-Insular for 2024

The annual event, which is organised by the Guernsey and Jersey Golf Unions, showcases the best young golfers from both islands and fosters friendly rivalry and sportsmanship. Oak is proud to sponsor both teams for the 2024 match.

The 2024 Junior Inter-Insular will take place this weekend, on 31 August and 1 September 2024 at Grouville, Royal Jersey Golf Club. 10 players from each island will compete in singles and fourball matches. The winners will be determined by the total number of matches won over the two rounds of golf.

Jayden Tucknott and Conor McKenna have both been announced as Guernsey captains and Anabelle Lucas-Villar will be Team Captain with Ryan Hafey as Vice-Captain for Jersey.

Oak’s Jersey Managing Director, Jo Gorrod commented:
“We are delighted to support the Junior Inter-Insular Golf competition, which is a great opportunity for the talented young golfers to demonstrate their skills and passion for the game. As a firm that operates across both islands, we recognise the importance of fostering strong links and friendly cooperation between our communities. We wish all the participants the best of luck and look forward to an exciting and enjoyable event.”

Guernsey’s team manager, Dan O’Brien said:
“We are very grateful to Oak for their generous sponsorship of the Junior Inter-Insular, which is one of the highlights of the junior golf calendar. The competition is not only a chance to compete for the coveted trophy, but also to make new friends and learn from each other. We are confident that the 2024 edition will be a success and a memorable experience for everyone involved.”

Derek de la Haye, Jersey’s team manager highlighted:
“We are thrilled to have Oak as our sponsor for the Junior Inter-Insular. The players work incredibly hard at their golf, and it is a real honour for them to be selected for the team. The match showcases the best of Channel Islands golf and promotes the values of fair play, respect and teamwork. We are looking forward to hosting the event at Royal Jersey, which is a challenging and scenic course that will test the skills of all the players.
