UBS and Gaëlle Deschamps Empower the Next Generation of Female Leaders in Jersey

UBS Global Wealth Management today announced the completion of year one’s “The Art of LeadHERship©” curriculum, created and led by Gaëlle Deschamps. UBS is the exclusive financial services sponsor for the curriculum, which was delivered to female students in Years 7 to 11 at Jersey College for Girls (JCG), with an aim to inspire the next-generation of women leaders and investors.

Gaëlle, who recently delivered a TEDx talk on shaping the next-generation of women leaders, designed the confidence boosting workshops to help unlock leadership potential among teenage girls.

“Empowering young women to lead isn’t just morally right — it’s economically smart. Closing the gender gap could unlock $12 trillion for the global economy. But more than that, our world needs their unique voices, ideas, and leadership styles to solve the challenges ahead”, said Gaëlle.

While the workshops focus on providing confidence-boosting exercises and curriculum to shape the next-generation of women leaders, for UBS Global Wealth Management, the importance of improving financial literacy among the next-generation is equally as important. Emma Wheeler, Head of Women’s Wealth at UBS Global Wealth Management, has created a series of financial confidence resources to encourage young women to start their financial journeys as soon as possible.

“Building financial confidence among women is critical for our economy, society and wellbeing. Thirty-five percent of private, investible wealth is currently in women’s hands and is expected to grow, but unfortunately, women are not investing at the same rate as men”, said Emma. “If financial education began at school, it would help to eliminate future challenges, and women will become empowered to take control of their financial futures. Gaëlle’s curriculum is an excellent way to catalyze this opportunity for the young women of Jersey and by sharing our expertise, we can help them to build a healthier financial future”.

Emma also presented at the JCG Foundation’s Leadership and Entrepreneurship Accelerator Program (LEAP) on Monday 14 July, which was attended by students from JCG and across the globe. She spoke to young women aged 14 – 18 years, about the importance of building financial confidence to be equipped for any financial twists and turns faced throughout their lives.

UBS Global Wealth Management will continue to be the exclusive financial services sponsor of “The Art of LeadHERship” for the next two years, with an aim of introducing the curriculum to more teenage girls at other schools across Jersey and beyond.
