Careers Events and Schemes

As an undergraduate or graduate, you have multiple paths ahead of you. While any choices you make are not set in stone, it’s handy to be clear on which field of finance you want to pursue.

One of the best ways to do this is to attend a careers event or something similar, where you’ll be able to learn more about your potential path and be ready for your future in finance. 

Event Target Group Description
Jersey Skills Show All ages Event run annually by Skills Jersey. You will have an opportunity to informally talk to representatives from various sectors, including finance about their businesses, industries and career opportunities.

Insight days Year 12-13 and above Free to attend information days for A level students and adults not in education.
Career Open Days All ages Many of our members host Career Open Days. Whether you’re an undergraduate, graduate, or ready to change your job/career, Open Career Days give you a chance to  get loads of information about a particular organisation and career options available to help you decide which of them interests you most.

 

Scheme Target Group Description
Undergraduate internship schemes Undergraduates Various internship programmes during your university summer holidays.
Advance to Work 16-24 year olds An employment scheme offered for 16 to 24 year olds who are not in full time education.
Advance Plus Schemes Unemployed adults (aged 20+) Advance Plus is an employment scheme designed to make it easier for you to find a job. For finance sector, it offers training courses in specific areas such as: fund and trust administration and business and office administration.
Jersey Employment Trust (JET) All ages JET assist people with a disability to prepare, find and maintain employment in Jersey.
Trackers 16-19 years old Apprenticeship Programme – Digital

 

Shadowing Programme Target Group Description
Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) work shadowing scheme Year 12 and above The scheme offers a unique opportunity to ‘shadow’ a marketing professional for up to one week, during the school / university holidays.
