Our exclusive end-of-year networking reception in Johannesburg will be led by our Market Development Consultant – Africa, Dr Rufaro Nyakatawa, hosted in partnership with the British High Commission.

At this invitation-only event, guests will hear from the office of the British High Commission, as well as a keynote address by Nema Ramkhelawan-Bhana, Senior Client Executive, RMB – Rand Merchant Bank.

The networking reception will provide an excellent opportunity to connect with a delegation of senior representatives from leading financial services firms based in South Africa, UK and Jersey.

Chris joined Jersey Finance in April 2024 and has 30 years of international financial services experience, with particular expertise in the digital and fintech space.

In his role as Global Head of Market Development, Chris has a pivotal role as part of Jersey Finance’s leadership team, overseeing the organisation’s global team of market development specialists in key strategic markets, including Asia, the Middle East, Africa, the US and the UK.
Dr Rufaro Nyakatawa

Based in Johannesburg, Dr Rufaro Nyakatawa’s primary focus is developing the strategy for Jersey Finance’s engagement in the South African market. She also plays a vital role in supporting the organisation’s wider activity across the continent.
John Humphrey
John HumphreyHis Majesty’s Trade Commissioner for Africa
‘John Humphrey is His Majesty’s Trade Commissioner for Africa. He was appointed in June 2022. Prior to joining the Department for Business and Trade (DBT), John was the Group Chief Executive Officer of Kent HoldCo Limited (KHL) – a diversified group of 5 companies employing 1500 staff. Between 2012 and 2019 John was with the UK Hydrographic Office (an MOD Trading Fund). From 2015 he was Chief Executive and Accounting Officer. Before that he was Chief Commercial Officer and Deputy Chief Executive. Earlier in his career, John worked in the private sector in a variety of commercial, general management and executive roles in the UK and overseas. John’s private sector roles were mainly in the technology sector. He is a Younger Brother of Trinity House and, until recently, a Lay Trustee of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapy.’
Nema Ramkhelawan-Bhana
Nema Ramkhelawan-BhanaSenior Client Executive, RMB - Rand Merchant Bank
Trained in Economics, Econometrics, and International Finance at the University of Johannesburg (undergraduate in Economics and Econometrics (cum laude)) and Honours in international trade and finance (cum laude), Nema quickly learnt that applying her trade required adaptation to real world challenges, at least in the realm of an investment bank. Her current role in GM International has sharpened her awareness of the need for continuous market development to provide the best possible solutions to institutional clients and the communities in which they operate.
