Celebrating five years of bringing together women from across the financial services and business community in South Africa, Jersey Finance is proud to host its annual ‘Perspectives: Women in Leadership’ event.

Led by Dr Rufaro Nyakatawa, Director – Africa at Jersey Finance, this women-only event will also be attended by Amy Bryant, Deputy CEO of Jersey Finance, and Kerry Petulla, Executive Director of Enforcement and Intelligence at the Jersey Financial Services Commission.

The event will explore the personal and professional journeys of accomplished women leaders, who will share candid reflections on the experiences, challenges and defining moments that have shaped their careers.

Designed as a powerful, conversation-led panel, the event will provide a platform for open and authentic dialogue around leadership, ambition, resilience and personal growth. Through sharing their stories, our speakers will offer insights and perspectives that inspire others to reflect on their own leadership journeys and embrace new opportunities with confidence.

The audience will comprise of women from across the financial services sector and wider business community, many of whom are navigating pivotal moments of leadership, growth and transition in their careers.

What to expect:

  • Our panellists will share their individual career journeys, reflecting on the pivotal decisions, lessons and experiences that have influenced their paths
  • Guided by Dr Rufaro Nyakatawa, the conversation will evolve naturally, creating space for authentic insights, meaningful discussion and shared experiences
  • The session will conclude with an audience Q&A, providing delegates with the opportunity to engage directly with the speakers
  • Our aim is for every attendee to leave feeling energised, empowered and inspired to take bold and intentional steps in their own leadership journey
  • Afternoon tea will be served following the discussions, offering further opportunities to connect and continue the conversation with peers

Amy BryantDeputy Chief Executive Officer, Jersey Finance
Amy is Deputy Chief Executive of Jersey Finance. Amy joined Jersey Finance in 2011, becoming Chief Operating Officer in January 2014 and assumed her current role in September 2017. Amy also retains an active position leading the Strategy and Research team which undertakes projects and initiatives to develop the financial services industry in the Island.
Dr Rufaro Nyakatawa

Dr Rufaro Nyakatawa is the Director – Africa at Jersey Finance, where she leads the organisation’s Africa strategy, connecting African capital to global markets and global capital to African opportunities. Based in South Africa, she works closely with financial institutions, private wealth advisors, fund managers, family businesses, intermediaries and investors to strengthen the connection between African capital and global markets, while positioning Jersey as a trusted international finance centre and structuring partner.
Xoli Madlala
Xoli MadlalaFounder, Redefining Menopause Africa
Xoli Madlala is the founder of Redefining Menopause Africa and a globally recognised menopause thought leader driving change in how menopause is understood, experienced and supported across Africa and beyond. An internationally certified menopause coach, policy adviser and author of The Perimenopausal Globetrotter, she combines professional expertise with lived experience to champion inclusive, accessible and transformative conversations. A sought-after keynote speaker, TEDxLytteltonWomen presenter and trusted media voice, Xoli partners with organisations to integrate menopause into wellness, inclusion and performance strategies. Her work has been featured across television, radio, podcasts, publications and leading academic institutions. Recognised as Sunday World's 2024 Heroic Woman in Health, one of The Feature Magazine's 50 Memorable Women, and among the 100 Reputable Women of African Descent 2026, Xoli continues to shape global conversations on menopause.
Anthea Gardner
Anthea GardnerFounder and Managing Director, Cartesian Capital
Anthea Gardner is the founder and CEO of Cartesian Capital, South Africa’s only female-owned and managed CIS Hedge Fund. With experience spanning HSBC, RMB, Morgan Stanley London and the African Development Bank, where she helped manage a $22 billion portfolio, she has built a distinguished career in asset management and investment strategy. Since launching Cartesian Capital in 2014, Anthea has grown the firm into a Level 1 B-BBEE black female-owned business, managing fixed income and hedge fund strategies, balanced portfolios and corporate cash solutions. She is also a director of Inyosi Empowerment Group, serves on the Revego Renewables Fund investment committee, and is a founding committee member of South Africa’s chapter of 100 Women in Finance. A bestselling author of Make Your Money Work for You and a respected media commentator, Anthea is known for making investing accessible while championing excellence, innovation and empowerment in finance.
Kerry Petulla
Kerry PetullaExecutive Director of Enforcement and Intelligence, Jersey Financial Services Commission
Kerry Petulla first joined the Jersey Financial Services Commission (JFSC) in June 2007 and is the Executive Director of Enforcement and Intelligence. During her time at the JFSC, Kerry has been involved in a number of serious and complex enforcement investigations. From 2016 to 2017, Kerry left the JFSC for 13 months to join a large global independent advisor, where she was a regulatory and compliance consultant. During that time, she held the role of Director of Risk and Compliance for a local trust business with offices across the globe, she led a large AML remediation project for a European bank operating out of London and managed a number of global compliance projects. Kerry returned to the JFSC in June 2017. Kerry has a law degree and, prior to joining the JFSC, she spent eight years serving as a police detective, specialising in financial crime investigation with the States of Jersey Police’s Joint Financial Crimes Unit.
