Based in Johannesburg, Dr Rufaro Nyakatawa’s primary focus is developing the strategy for Jersey Finance’s engagement in the South African market. She also plays a vital role in supporting the organisation’s wider activity across the continent.

Catherine has a particular focus on advising clients with a South African connection, having worked in South Africa for 12 years where she specialised in the establishment of offshore structures for South African individuals and companies, and the establishment and running of private charitable foundations. Catherine works between the firm’s Bristol and London offices. She lives in the countryside just outside Bristol and enjoys walking her dogs and spending time with friends and family. Catherine is a Partner in the firm’s 40 lawyer strong Tax and Private Client Team. Catherine specialises in international tax, trusts and estate planning advice for a wide range of clients, from high net worth individuals to leading private banks and other financial institutions.
Dean Douglas

Dean is a fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP). Dean qualified with Deloitte in 2003, having gained valuable experience whilst auditing a wide variety of offshore financial institutions and structures. Since joining IQ EQ Group twenty years ago, he has held various positions, whilst gaining significant exposure to private client structuring, both from an accounting as well as an administration perspective. Having grown up and spent his formative years in South Africa, Dean knows the country well. He is fluent in Afrikaans and has a strong understanding of the culture and diversity of the country and travels regularly to service existing clients and relationships.
Sanmari Crous

Sanmari is a business development manager for Standard Bank’s International Fiduciary Services, working in the Jersey office. A South African qualified lawyer and certified financial planning professional, Sanmari uses her legal background and expertise in private client and cross-border planning to support and grow the business. Before joining Standard Bank, Sanmari worked as a lawyer for an international law firm in their Jersey office where she advised some of Jersey’s most prominent trust companies on South African tax and exchange control aspects. Sanmari was recently named as one of the 2022 eprviateclient Channel Islands Top 35 Under 35. She has BComm LLB degrees from the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa, as well as a post-graduate diploma in financial planning from the University of Free State. She is currently studying towards a STEP Diploma in private wealth advice.
