We brought together senior financial services professionals in Hong Kong SAR on 27 October for an exclusive event exploring the growing role of tokenisation in global financial markets.
The invitation-only event provided an opportunity to exchange perspectives on the evolving digital assets landscape and the implications for financial services businesses and investors.
Elliot Refson, Head of Funds at Jersey Finance, delivered a keynote which explored how tokenisation is changing the way familiar investments are issued, accessed and transferred.
He highlighted Jersey’s established legal structures, regulatory experience and governance expertise, which already support live tokenised products. He also outlined opportunities for collaboration, combining Hong Kong’s investment expertise and international client relationships with Jersey’s issuing and administration capabilities, while keeping investment management in Hong Kong.
Following the keynote, Jo Murphy, Senior Consultant, moderated a panel discussion titled ‘Tokenisation: From Hype to Infrastructure – What Actually Changes?’. Elliot, joined Jame DiBiasio, media entrepreneur and fintech writer, and Belle Leung, Head of APAC, Client Coverage Group at Xapo Bank and Co-chair of the Fin Tech Association of Hong Kong (FTAHK) Blockchain and Digital Assets Committee.
Their discussion explored the transition of tokenisation from an emerging concept towards practical applications in financial markets, including the role of infrastructure, institutional adoption and the opportunities and challenges associated with integrating digital assets into established financial systems.
The event also provided an opportunity to highlight Jersey’s growing role in supporting tokenised investment structures, underpinned by its established legal and regulatory framework and experienced professional services sector.
Following the discussion, attendees came together for a networking reception, providing an opportunity to continue conversations and strengthen relationships with industry professionals across the region.
This was Jersey Finance’s third visit to Hong Kong this year – we also held events and meetings there in April and June – reflecting our IFC’s ongoing commitment to engaging with Asia’s financial services community, sharing expertise and exploring the developments shaping the future of international finance.
