We strengthened our engagement with South East Asia’s funds community through two events in Singapore and Malaysia, showcasing Jersey’s role as a leading international finance centre (IFC) and its contribution to cross-border investment.
On 5 November, we partnered with Azimuth Global Partners and Trowers & Hamlins to host an invitation-only roundtable in Malaysia on UK real estate credit opportunities. Hosted by Yiow Chong Tan, Director – South East Asia, with Elliot Refson, Head of Funds, also attending, the discussion brought together perspectives on how Malaysian investors can access UK real estate credit strategies.
Speakers Tom Reynolds, Louisa Poh and Hamel Shah explored private lending across the real estate capital stack, transaction sourcing and underwriting and the risk-return characteristics of different strategies. They also considered how Jersey structures can support investment in the sector. Jersey offers a range of fund and corporate vehicles to suit different strategies and investor requirements. Jersey’s Private Fund regime provides a streamlined route for eligible private funds, while established expertise in UK real estate fund administration supports the management of cross-border structures. The roundtable also addressed risks including borrower quality, collateral valuation and exit scenarios.
We also hosted a funds networking reception in Singapore on 3 November which attracted more than 100 invited guests from single and multi-family offices, fund managers and professional service providers. Hosted by Yiow Chong Tan and attended by Elliot Refson, guests at the reception exchanged perspectives and built connections across the funds community.
